HP and VMware Collaborate to Simplify Datacentre Management

HP Insight Control and VMware vCentre Server Provide a Single Solution for Managing Both Physical and Virtual Infrastructures

HP and VMware have announced a solution that will enable organisations to manage both physical and virtual infrastructure centrally, through the VMware vCentre console. HP Insight Control for vCentre Server, was unveiled at VMworld 2009 in San Francisco this week.

Insight Control has been developed in response to demands for tighter integration between virtual and physical environments, to simplify the user experience and provide greater infrastructure control in a simple, familiar interface. The solution will enable administrators to more efficiently manage both the physical and virtual components of their infrastructure via vCentre. It will also allow customers to improve administrative efficiency within their organisations by streamlining day-to-day monitoring and management tasks and freeing up staff to focus on more strategic projects that better align technology to business needs.

	Automatically reduce server problems: gain a deep insight into HP physical infrastructures, detect potential failures and automatically relocate virtualised workloads to different hosts, whilst reducing physical server downtime by up to 77%
	Increase IT staff efficiency: quickly access information required to resolve problems and eliminate the need to switch between consoles to identify hardware issues that may impact application availability. Increase server-to-administrator ratios by up to 98%
	Manage infrastructure globally: remotely manage and troubleshoot virtualised servers using HP Integrated Lights Out Advanced capabilities directly from the vCentre console.
	Reduce energy costs: Intelligent power measurement and control through VMware Distributed Power Management (DPM) and HP Insight Control combined with energy-efficient HP hardware will help customers reduce power costs and their carbon footprint.
